A symphonic trip to the Italian capital
Join the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra for their season finale, with this program that takes us on an evocative journey across lands and time! Two Rome-inspired Respighi masterpieces lead the program, with his Fountains of Rome paving the way for the evening's headline, Pines of Rome! Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini continues the Italian flavor taking inspiration from Italy's famous violin virtuoso Niccolo Paganini, while Michael Torke's Javelin brings an extra touch of heroic flair to the evening.
Pines of Rome is Ottorini Rhespigi's imaginative portrait of pine trees in four locations across the Italian capital. From children's games in a public park, chittering nightingales in a solitary graveyard to the tramp of soldiers in the days of the Roman Empire, this dawn-to-dusk tone poem is an enchanting way to experience the ancient city and its soundscapes through gorgeous classical music.
